As a testament to its significant growth and success, the company goes public for the first time on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX). In 2006, Medifast joins the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as it continues to grow in sales and earnings.
Medifast launches the 5 & 1 Plan along with the Lean & Green meal that offers an endless variety of protein and fresh veggie options to help Clients reach optimal health in delicious, new ways. The clinically proven Plan and scientifically designed products were developed by physicians, dietitians and scientists.
With Dr. A’s Habits of Health Transformational System, Clients learn to create healthy habits through small, daily changes called microHabits – often starting with achieving a healthy weight and focusing on healthy eating. It isn’t only about the food you eat, though. The program also addresses hydration, exercise, sleep, mindfulness and surroundings – with the goal of healthy habit creation in all areas of life.

Medifast announces the opening of a new research and development hub, the Medifast Product Innovation Center. The workplace is designed to support innovation as the company continues to expand its focus to help customers in critical health need-states, with or without medications.
Medifast announces OPTAVIA ACTIVE, a new line of products that are scientifically designed to support muscle health and encourages the Habit of Healthy Motion, a key component of any health and wellness journey. Led by our company’s team of researchers, food scientists, nutritionists and other scientific experts, OPTAVIA ACTIVE Essential Amino Acid (EAA) Blend and OPTAVIA ACTIVE Whey Protein are designed to address age-related muscle mass decline and support overall muscle health.
Medifast expands into the Medically Supported Weight Loss market through collaboration with LifeMD, Inc. The collaboration integrates LifeMD’s telehealth platform and GLP-1 offering for medically qualified patients with OPTAVIA coach-guided, healthy solution lifestyle.
Medifast introduces OPTAVIA ASCEND — a new product line of high-protein, fiber-rich mini meals as well as a daily nutrient pack. These products are featured in two new science-backed nutrition plans designed for people on GLP-1 medications and those looking for help to keep weight off. The mini meals provide essential nutrients to promote muscle health, digestive health and bone health, and combined with the new plans and OPTAVIA’s holistic offer, fill a critical gap in the weight management market.
